PlantDoctor

A deep learning diagnosis system identifying crop diseases (cassava, maize, tomato, cashew) from leaf photos to help West African farmers protect harvests.

PlantDoctor

The problem

Crop diseases cause up to 40–80% harvest losses in West Africa. Rural farmers lack quick access to agronomists, leading to late diagnosis and improper pesticide use.

My contribution

Trained and benchmarked CNN architectures (EfficientNet, MobileNetV2, ResNet), implemented Grad-CAM heatmaps for decision explainability, engineered a FastAPI inference server, and built web and mobile client interfaces.

The result

High-accuracy multi-class classification (>90%), actionable offline treatment advice, and visual Grad-CAM transparency to build user trust in the AI diagnosis.

My contribution

Engineered MawabaScan's asynchronous FastAPI & Redis scan pipelines with LLM remediation reports; developed Klindou's React 19 admin dashboard and backend APIs; built RAG chatbots and computer vision pipelines; managed AWS/Azure deployments with Terraform.

The result

The problem

Technical knowledge is frequently scattered across disparate channels. Repetitive questions waste engineering time, and legacy search fails to find relevant answers.

My contribution

Developed the full Laravel 11 platform with RBAC roles, notifications, and gamification badges; designed an internal FastAPI AI micro-service with ChromaDB vector storage, semantic embeddings, question auto-tagging, and Gemini RAG.

The result

Automated prevention of duplicate questions, instant semantic answer retrieval, and an intelligent assistant answering technical queries from the company's internal knowledge base.

How I work

I use AI every day to build faster. The tools change with the project; the method does not: I follow the practices each tool's own documentation recommends.

Plan before code

I describe the goal, let the AI explore the problem and propose a plan, and I review that plan before a single line is written.

Give it a way to check itself

Tests come first: each change must fail a test, then pass it. The AI checks its own work against them, so I never trust it blindly.

I stay in charge

The AI proposes, I decide. I read the changes, review the result and take responsibility for what ships.

The right tool for the job

Claude and Gemini for daily development and office work, ChatGPT when it fits, and Mistral self-hosted on my own server.
